There are 8 planets in our solar system:- Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. All these planets rotates on there own axis and all of these planets revolve around the sun. Sun is not the planet but it is Star. There is many difference between the Planet and Star. Planet:- Planets are celestial body which don't emit the light and the energy from the nuclear fusion's reaction. Planets are born usually from supernova remanent or when huge dust clouds collapse under their own gravity. Our big boy Jupiter was formed like this. Rocky planets are also formed like this but they are smaller as it gets difficult to maintain a solid state under such immense pressure and gravity.
